Toy monster truck tires created the texture on the surface of this mug. Then I add a layer of copper patina into the grooves and layer on various glazes. Next it is fired into a gas kiln where a liquid baking soda mixture is sprayed in at peek temperature. As the soda settles onto the pots it gives them depth and different textures with a warm toasty clay body.

This piece is a part of my on going Beautiful Mundane series in which I record textures on to the surface of the clay that represent my life at home with my children.
