This mug shows how the flame and ash in a wood kiln can give various effects. One side of the pot shows where the ash settled and how the heat created a textured surface. These details are what make each wood fired pot one-of-a-kind.

This piece is a part of my on going Beautiful Mundane series in which I record textures on to the surface of the clay that represent my life at home with my children. For this one, a play-doh rolling tool was using to create a dashed line that surrounds the pot.
